MXNet 1G Downmixing Encoder – AVProEdge AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-E
Detailed Description
The AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-E Encoder is the audio processing and downmixing counterpart to our standard AC-MXNET-1G-E Encoder. Like our standard Encoder, this is where the signal originates. However, the AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-E Encoder was specifically designed to integrate with multi-zone stereo/mono audio mixing systems. The AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-E Encoder features a specialized audio processor chipset capable of accepting and decoding Dolby Digital+, DTS-HD, and other lossless audio formats – outputting those signals as stereo via the unit's integrated balanced stereo terminal block.
Connect the MXNet 1G AVDM to any HDMI source to encode the audio/video signal into a multicast data format that can be routed to any Decoder endpoint within the project/installation. As noted above, it also decodes Dolby ATMOS, DTS-HD, and other lossless audio formats for integration with whole-home or distributed audio systems. The device connects directly via category cabling (CAT 5e or better) or fiber optics to the MXNet Switch (AC-MXNET-SW48 or SW24) and any other compatible multicast-capable managed L3 network switch. The AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-E Encoder is part of the MXNet AV-over-IP product ecosystem from AVPro Edge.
The AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-E encodes a 4K 4:2:0 30Hz HDMI video signal along with audio, control, and power. These signals are transmitted to single or multiple Decoder endpoints via multicast routing through an MXNet or compatible L3 managed network switch with near-zero latency. MXNet Encoders encode audio, video, and control signals into IP packets using an optimized JPEG2000 codec at a flexible data rate (200Mbps for 1080p content, 300Mbps for 4K30 content, up to 850Mbps peak). The AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-E Encoder also supports standalone point-to-point applications when connected directly to an AC-MXNET-1G-D Decoder.
The AC-MXNET-1G-AVDM-E Encoder is an integral part of the MXNet Ecosystem, which includes Encoders, Network Switches, Control Processors, and various other components designed to facilitate custom A/V distribution systems. The MXNet Ecosystem features resolution scaling, full EDID management, multifaceted video walls, and the MXNet Mentor setup and control tool—simplifying installation for integrators while delivering a major "wow" factor for clients.
Downmixing – This feature is especially useful when distributing high-end object-oriented or lossless audio signals (Dolby ATMOS, DTS-HD, etc.) to rooms or audio zones not equipped for surround sound. The primary benefit is the ability to downmix these high-end formats into a dedicated stereo signal while fully retaining multi-channel formats via the HDMI connection.
JPEG 2000 – JPEG 2000 is the essential video encoding choice when picture quality is critical. It supports progressive decoding and delivers both lossy and lossless compression within a single code stream. JPEG 2000 supports GENLOCK to synchronize video source frames across all Decoders, resulting in tear-free video walls. It also enables advanced color-space management, 10-bit color, and interactivity in networked applications.
Data Window – A built-in mini OLED screen mounted on every Encoder unit, displaying critical information to streamline setup and troubleshooting. The Data Window displays the IP and MAC addresses, or can be customized via MXNet Mentor to show custom labels such as AppleTV-4K, Blu-ray, Streamer, etc. (supports up to 12 characters).
Full External Light Control – To maintain pristine aesthetics in custom viewing environments, you can disable ALL LED indicators on the device—including network link lights and the Data Window OLED—once the Encoder is installed and verified. This ensures the end-user will never even know the device is there.
Control Signal Routing – Both RS-232 and IR signals can be directly routed through the AC-MXNET-1G-E Encoder. When routed through a network switch, you can specify single or multiple Decoders to receive these control signals.
USB and KVM Support – Each Encoder unit features a USB-B Host connection, allowing you to connect and route USB signals to a Decoder device. Use the MXNet Mentor software to assign the Host Encoder and the upstream USB device connected to the selected Decoder.

Netgear Support – MXNet engineers have collaborated with Netgear to ensure seamless compatibility between their switches and our encoders/decoders. To simplify installation, Netgear has developed an "AVPro Edge Profile" that allows switches to work seamlessly with AVPro Edge encoders and decoders right out of the box.
