Detailed Description

Description

The AC-MX-44HDBT is a 4×4 HDMI/HDBaseT matrix switcher. It includes 4 HDMI inputs and 4 HDMI/HDBaseT output blocks. Each output block features a mirrored HDBaseT and HDMI port. By utilizing HDBaseT with ICT, we can transmit 18Gbps signals over category cables for long distances. This switcher allows any source (Blu-ray, UHD Blu-ray, satellite receiver, game consoles, PCs, etc.) to be displayed on any connected screen. The matrix equalizes and amplifies the output to ensure the HDMI signal can be transmitted over long cable runs without signal degradation.

Resolve common AV issues such as audio lip-sync discrepancies, EDID handshaking errors, and mixed systems with legacy displays using this advanced matrix switcher. Built-in audio delay management lets you address lip-sync issues proactively, while integrated HDMI scalers ensure you don't have to compromise your 4K sources when connecting older displays. Furthermore, advanced EDID management delivers maximum system flexibility for today's diverse mix of sources and displays.

HDBaseT Compatibility Mode (HDBT-C) – This proprietary AVPro Edge technology converts high-bandwidth signals from 18Gbps down to 10.2Gbps. The conversion utilizes a specialized algorithm that minimizes visual impact on the original image, enabling long-distance transmission of high-bandwidth content to displays that do not natively support 18Gbps. HDBT-C is managed on a per-output basis, giving you complete control over which individual signal paths are down-clocked.

ICT Technology on the HDBaseT Outputs – ICT (Invisible Compression Technology) represents a breakthrough in HDMI extension technology. This proprietary technology compresses high-bandwidth HDMI signals into manageable data packets to fit through standard CAT cabling. The ICT algorithm seamlessly handles all HDR formats and signals up to 18Gbps. Its architecture supports all chroma subsampling types, color spaces, and HDMI Deep Color up to 12-bit. What sets our technology apart is that it is truly invisible—not only to the human eye but also to HDMI test equipment and sink devices. What goes in is precisely what comes out. The key advantage of ICT is the preservation of HDR metadata, color information, and depth in their full, original integrity. Conventional compression technologies sacrifice these elements to save bandwidth, resulting in noticeable color banding, shifts, and motion artifacts.

This technology is backed by extensive side-by-side testing comparing ICT against uncompressed direct source connections. The test setup consists of two identical displays and a single source split to both—one utilizing ICT over HDBaseT and the other connected via a direct 18Gbps cable. Evaluators assessing HDR content consistently found the results conclusive: the compression remains entirely imperceptible, even to trained professional eyes.

4K Up/Down Scaling – Like other AVPro Edge matrix switchers, this unit features built-in scalers on every output. You can upscale an HDMI output from 1080p to 4K, or downscale from 4K to 1080p on the HDBaseT outputs for compatibility when using third-party HDMI extenders. Please note the scaling limitations: downscaling is not supported on the HDMI outputs, and upscaling is not supported on the HDBaseT outputs.

Extreme EDID Management – With 29 onboard EDID profiles (including HDR EDIDs), black screens and handshake failures are a thing of the past. You can easily manage the input side of the switcher by selecting preloaded EDIDs. Alternatively, the unit can instantly read and capture an EDID from any connected display and assign it to the desired input at the push of a button. Say goodbye to EDID compatibility issues.

Dual Audio De-Embedding – Our versatile audio de-embedding capabilities include:

  • Extraction of 2-channel PCM audio from each output via a balanced 5-pin terminal block (pre-made conversion cables to L/R available). NOTE: The analog port supports 2CH PCM only; for downmixing applications, please refer to the AC-AVDM-AUHD or our AXION series matrix switchers.
  • Four digital optical Toslink outputs supporting 7-channel LPCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital +, DTS, and DTS-HD Master Audio.
  • Flexible extracted audio routing options:
    • Bind to output (extracted audio tracks the video switching; default mode)
    • Bind to input (extracted audio is permanently locked to the corresponding input channel)
    • Independent (extracted audio can be routed freely, allowing the de-embedder to function as an independent audio matrix)

Audio Delay – The AC-MX-44HDBT allows independent audio delay management per output for both balanced and digital audio interfaces. With up to 630ms of adjustable delay, lip-sync issues are completely eliminated. Audio delay can be configured easily and directly from the front panel with simple button controls.

Built-in Test Pattern Generator – The unit features an internal test pattern generator for each output, enabling installers to verify downstream infrastructure integrity. Built-in test patterns eliminate hours of troubleshooting and help identify potential issues before deployment.

Receiver Options – Two compatible receiver options are available:

  • AC-EX70-444-RNE (Recommended) – Supports full 18Gbps & HDR up to 70 meters (230 feet) and 1080p up to 100 meters (330 feet).
